Drivers
Minimum driver age is 22. A standard full NZ licence is all you need. International licences are accepted if in English or with an official translation. Learner and restricted licences are not accepted.
Minimum hire
5 days.
Deposit and balance
A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the total hire cost, or $1,000 (whichever is greater), secures your dates. The balance is billed to the same card 1 week before your trip.
Insurance
Insurance cover is included. An excess applies in a claim, and you can select the no risk option at booking to reduce the excess to zero.
Cancellations
The earlier you cancel, the less you pay. The full schedule is in our Terms.
One-way hires
Between Auckland and Christchurch, in both directions. A $300 one-way fee applies, and ferry bookings are yours to arrange.
Pick up and return
Allow at least an hour at pickup for your walk-through. Your return time is set in your rental agreement, and late returns may incur extra daily charges.
What to bring
Food and drinks, clothing, medications, toiletries and outdoor gear. Linen, towels and kitchen equipment are included.

How does the free 7th day work?
For every 6 days you pay for, we add a 7th day free. 6 paid days is 7 days, and 12 paid days is 14. The free day waives the day rate only, so bond, insurance and other charges still apply. The offer applies to bookings made before 30 November 2026.
How much does it cost?

What is the minimum rental period?
5 days.
Who can it sleep?
2 adults and 2 children. The two cabins are fairly small, with a cabover double and a dinette that converts to a bed.
Where do I pick up and drop off?
At either our Auckland depot near Auckland Airport or our Christchurch depot at Christchurch Airport (Airpark Canterbury), in any combination. The Auckland depot is at 3 Verissimo Drive, Māngere, Auckland 2022. The Christchurch depot is at 264 Russley Road, Avonhead, Christchurch 8042. There is a free shuttle between the airport and the depot at both.
Is there an extra charge for a one-way rental?
Yes. A one-way fee of $300 applies. One-way rentals run between Auckland and Christchurch in both directions, and are confirmed with us as part of your quote.
What is the cancellation policy?
More than 60 days before hire commencement, the deposit is forfeited. 31 to 60 days before, 25% of the total hire cost is payable. 15 to 30 days before, 50%. 7 to 14 days before, 75%. 0 to 6 days before, no-show, or early return, 100% of the total hire cost is payable.
Is insurance included in the rental?
Yes. Insurance cover is included as standard in every rental. An excess applies in the event of a claim unless you select the no risk option.
What is included in the rental?
Every rental includes the V6 Ford Ranger, the 600ATV Hardwall camper, linen, pillows and duvet, bath and tea towels, cutlery and dinnerware, kitchen equipment and utensils, bucket, dustpan and brush, recovery boards, and 24/7 AA Roadside Assistance.
Do I need a special licence to drive the Ranger?
No. A standard full New Zealand drivers licence is all you need. International licences are also accepted provided they are in English or accompanied by an official translation. Learner and restricted licences are not accepted.
Is the camper self-contained?
Yes. The 600ATV Hardwall is certified to NZS 5465. It has its own fresh water, grey water and black water waste systems, plus a fully enclosed toilet and shower, allowing you to freedom camp at hundreds of sites across New Zealand.
Can I bring a pet or smoke in the vehicle?
No animals and no smoking, in the vehicle or the camper.
